Coming off a two-win season, the Fairhaven boys lacrosse team has gone from worst to first after clinching the South Coast Conference title with an 8-5 victory over Old Rochester on Friday.
Billy Pires led the way, scoring four goals while Kevin Pepin scored two and Nate Rock and Kobie Edwards each chipped in with another. Alex Silva also played well, recording eight saves in net en route to the victory.
"We knew what we could accomplish heading into this game and we really wanted it. We were down at the half, but battled back and the team showed real mental toughness, sticking with it to pull off the win," Fairhaven head coach Nick Pilla said. "We have gelled as a team so quickly and are working so well together every game. We have clearly come a long way from last year."
