ORR Lacrosse Preview
From the Standard Times Sports section
Old Rochester also made the state tournament in its first varsity season a year ago, going 6-6 in the regular season.
"We only graduated three or four guys, so we have a big senior class this year," coach Erich Carroll said.
Senior captain Marc Gammell returns, the Bulldogs' leading scorer from the midfield last season, as well as second-leading scorer, fellow senior captain Gerad Glavin. The third senior captain, goalie Anthony Cammarano, is also back.
Last season, the Bulldogs got such a late start to being an official varsity team that they had to get creative in order to fill out a varsity schedule, just a few weeks before the start of the season.
"We were all over the place," Carroll said. "Having an SCC is nice because not only do we have to travel less, but it gives the kids something to play for besides just qualifying for the tournament. We should be on more of a level playing field with the teams we'll play this year, but it'll also be a step up in terms of the level of competition and it will force us to play better."
